S/HAS-04[A] “Super Centurion Airborne”  and S/HAS-04[G] “Super Centurion Ground”

As the Equestrian military’s first mass produced Heavy Armour Suit, the Centurion saw extensive use in the 2nd and 3rd Northern Range Wars against the Griffon Kingdom as well as numerous smaller conflicts in the Empire’s numerous colonies.  The original mass produced model was a respected piece of the Army’s arsenal, but was phased out of service near the middle months of the 3rd Range War as the Army required a HAS platform that was capable of sustained flight and a longer operational range.

Despite the Centurion’s removal from the Army’s heavy-knight squadrons, some parts of the military still saw use in platform. The ESSEX Agency’s R&D department, due to budget cuts from Manehatten Command, decided to use the Centurion as a testing bed for new technologies and even magic compatibility systems for future models.  The result from this testing was the S/HAS04 Super Centurion.

Despite the model’s dated structure, the S/HAS04 was outfitted with top of the line hardware and subsystems.  The head was entirely replaced, removing the traditionalist head furnishings for a powerful telescopic camera and IR sensors.  The A model was fitted with a float system and booster suite, allowing it to achieve continuous flight in a combat environment.  The G model was outfitted with an advanced stabilization and targeting system and would be the prototype for the S/HAS-03T Grappler, the HAS-20 Atlas and the HHAS-24 Odin. 

The Super Centurion was unsuccessful in achieving a production bid for the Royal Army/Air Corps, as the HAS-05 Cavalier had already entered mass production.  The “Super C” was instead adopted by a number of Equestria’s Specialized Combat units, including the Royal Night Guard’s “Night Vanguard” Autonomous Response Unit, the Royal Guard’s “Blue Blooded” Special Operations Unit and, of course, ESSEX’s 1st Expeditionary Knights.
